Foreword by Antony Leather

Max Erlandsson or Sleepstreamer as he's more commonly known on bit-tech's forums, is no stranger to Mod of the Month and Mod of the Year nominations and his work has also been featured on the front page of the site - check out Rampage, for instance. In the last few months, Max has taken time out from his promising Prime scratchbuild concentrating his efforts on a new project, sponsored by Asus, Corsair and Intel.

The hardware they've supplied is pretty spectacular too with no less than six Intel SSDs, an Asus Ares graphics card and Corsair's H50 water cooling system. The way Max has incorporated these into the project is even more impressive, especially the graphics card and SSDs. Of course, his usual slick style of metal work with neat lines and precision edges is on show and in this step by step walk through, Max talks us through the project from start to finish along with plenty of eye candy.

Introduction

Hello and welcome once more to one of my projects. This time it's another case for Asus, and more specifically, the new Ares graphics card and Rampage 3 Extreme motherboard along with some gear from Intel and Corsair too. Those of you with a good memory will remember that I made them a case last year as well, and since its design worked well and was very much appreciated by Asus, this project will have a similar layout, with a few tweaks of course.

First, a small preview of what's to come.

The frame

A new case always starts by bringing out a fresh piece of aluminium sheet, 2mm in this case.

I cut this into 500x500mm pieces.

It's time to start cutting.

These are the inner front-panels. Theey will be bolted to the centre piece that supports the weight of the case.
